Girlguiding Nottinghamshire

About Us

With more than 9000 members, Girlguiding Nottinghamshire gives girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, build brilliant friendships, gain valuable life skills and make a positive difference to their lives and their communities. We build girls’ confidence and raise their aspirations. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good. We give them a space to have fun.

About your role

Volunteering with Girlguiding is a fun opportunity to inspire girls and help them to gain life skills, have adventures, impact the community, build friendships and have space to be themselves. Unit leaders and helpers are vital to organise and lead weekly meetings with units (groups of Rainbows, Brownies, or Guides).

Units follow the Girlguiding programme of activities in which girls learn about themselves, find their voice, discover how to use it and feel empowered to do so, and gain skills and confidence so that they feel they can take risks and achieve wonderful things.

Volunteers will help run the sessions and act as a role models for girls, have fun, develop skills and build friendships along the way.

Volunteers will be given full training and support throughout their time volunteering with girlguides and can even choose to undertake the Leadership Qualification.

There are a variety of units that take place every night of the week. Girlguiding ask that you are able to attend one meeting per week for a minimum of one term. The meetings are around 1 hour long.
