Affordable Nottingham is community shop based in Canning Circus dealing in surplus foods and goods. They also have a free to use social lounge and can often be found working in the community to alleviate the impact of poverty, poor health and social isolation.
They seek to address the cycle of poor health, poverty and social isolation by reducing food waste and getting it to those who need it most. The community shop and social lounge offers a safe community space and their approach is based on developing strong and authentic relationships with their suppliers and customers.
About your role
Volunteers support a range of activities. You will be based in the community shop serving customers, stocking shelves, liasing with suppliers, helping with marketing and helping to spread the aims of the project. You will be fully trained and supported throughout your time volunteering.
All volunteers will also get the chance to gain qualifications in Food Business, Food Hygiene and even First Aid!
We ask you to commit 3 hours per week for a minimum of one month. Induction sessions will be taking place all year round. The community shop is open from 12pm-6pm Monday to Tuesday and 9am-6pm Wednesday to Saturday. They will help find volunteer hours that work around your schedule.
