The University of Nottingham Students’ Union condemns antisemitism in all of its manifestations.

Antisemitism is hostility to or prejudices against those of Jewish faith and/or ethnicity. In order to be truly anti-racist, we must also combat antisemitism in all its forms. The antisemitic social media posts of high-profile celebrities, such as Wiley, have highlighted the ways in which antisemitism is perpetuated in society.

As an SU we need to continue to combat antisemitism, not only when there are high-profile incidents but in our day-to-day lives. The following services and policies are already in place to support our students who are part of the Jewish community:

  • The Jewish chaplain is available in our faith support service

  • As a Students’ Union, we have the ‘Combatting antisemitism and Supporting Jewish Students’ policy which is accessible here

  • Both the University and the Students’ Union have signed up to the IHRA Antisemitism definition

  • Our Advice service is a hate-crime reporting centre

  • Antisemitism can, and should, be reported to the Community Security Trust, the leading Jewish organisation for investigating and dealing with antisemitism.

  • JSoc is a society that Jewish, and non-Jewish students alike, can access for social and cultural bonding and support - the SU is committed to working with societies such as JSoc to eradicate antisemitism on and off-campus

  • Support and Welfare advisors are based in Schools and Student Services and are available to talk to where needed

  • The University Counselling Service is open for students who feel that they need support
