What are the Memorandum & Articles of Association?
This document defines a lot of terms that are used throughout these documents and also the Union's byelaws particularly around defining who a member of the Union is, it also contains information appropriate to the Student Union's status as a charity such as how it's Trustees will work.

What are the Bye-laws of the Students' Union?
This document details how the Students' Union's processes work everything from how many elected Officers there will be and their job roles to how disciplinary processes work. In essence it is an instruction manual on how the Union is run, it is written by students and can also be changed by them.
Guidance Documents
Rules and provisions made in Guidance Documents provided supplementary to the Bye-Laws are subservient to rules contained within the Bye-Laws themselves.
Amendments to Guidance Documents are the authority of the relevant body as detailed in the Bye-Laws.
What are the guidance documents?
Guidance documents provide further detail on how a lot of processes at the Union are advised to run covering things from how ideas for policy at a Union Council meeting will be discussed each meeting to a document detailing the code which student groups are expected to abide by.

Union Policy

Union Policy is established by Union Council and/or Referenda in accordance with the Bye-Laws.
What is Union Policy?
Policy of the Students' Union is an idea that has been taken to a Union Council meeting where a decision has been made that the Officers of the Students' Union should work to make that idea a reality over the next three years.

What is Autonomous Policy?
Some Networks and student groups at the Union can discuss, vote and create their own policy for either their group or an appropriate elected Officer of the Union to work on, they can also take ideas and have this passed centrally at Union Council if they wish.
