Is your friend self-isolating and you wanna chat through a window?
Want to learn how to communicate with people in the Deaf community and learn more about their culture?
Then SignSoc is the place for you!
We offer relaxed British Sign Language (BSL) teaching for both beginners and experienced BSL learners.
Beginners will learn the basics of the language as well as some topics of conversation, various vocabulary to use in conversation and some understanding of Deaf culture. We hope to get you to the approximate equivalent of BSL Level 1.
For the experienced learners, we go more in depth into the grammar, syntax and creating a flow in your conversational skills and learn more about Deaf history, culture and the importance of awareness. We hope to teach you some parts of BSL Level 2 and 3 that will be helpful for your communication.
Sessions are on Tuesday evenings.
Membership is £2

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.
A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students’ Union.
It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
