As a club we offer a broad range of activities:

- You must trial in order to be selected for the team (trials take place in the first few weeks of each academic year)
- Riders are required to purchase a standard membership and a BUCS top-up membership in order to take part, plus training session fees

Horseball
- Horseball is a fast-paced game that involves players passing, catching, picking up and throwing a ball into a net
- It’s a sport that many people may have not heard of but its and engaging and enjoyable game to learn
- Horseball riders compete at championships and play against Nottingham Trent University in Varsity
- To get involved with horseball, we ask that you are at least novice standard
- Horseball takes place at Long Lane stables with qualified coaches and trained horses
- Horseball will be running a few taster sessions at the start of term
- Riders are required to purchase a standard membership in order to take part, plus the lesson price
IMS & Friendly Competitions
- We also run more laid-back competitions available to all of our members
- IMS competitions allow members of the club to compete against each other round selected heights (usually 50cm,60cm,70cm & 80cm)
- We also run BUCS-style friendlies. These are where we compete against other unis in a BUCS style competition
- The events tend to run on Sunday’s and evenings, with the BUCS-style taking place on weekday afternoons
- Riders are required to purchase a standard membership in order to take part, plus the competition price
Engage
- Engage is a programme run by the university to encourage more people’s involvement within sport
- Engage will tend to run lessons and hacks for people to have a go at horse riding
- You don’t have to buy a membership to take part in the engage hack. You just have to pay for the hack/lesson
- It’s a great way to see the club and decide whether equestrian is something you would like to continue with
Inclusive Sessions
- Inclusive sessions are run by the university to encourage people with physical and mental disabilities to get involved with sports
- Our inclusive sessions normally take place at Scropton Stables and also organise hacks to Coloured Cob
- Sessions ran normally 2-3 times a term, but this is currently being reassessed due to Covid
- We also need volunteers to help with these sessions
Trips & Events
- Currently, we can’t plan any trips or events due to Covid, but we thought we would explain to you what we would normally organise
- Beach rides are often organised in the first couple weeks of Term 3
- We would also arrange trips to see horseball matches, as well as days at the races
- We also organise a horsey trip away somewhere for a few nights on the first weekend of the Easter Holidays. This allows us to get a lot of riding done as well as developing great friendships
- The last Trip in 2019 was to Wales on a hacking holiday with others in the past being to Ireland
RDA
- RDA stands for the Riding for the Disabled Association. It allows adults and children with disabilities to get involved with riding
- At Nottingham, we volunteer with RDA yards usually once a week on the weekend and help in any way we can
- We also try and organise fundraising days to help this fantastic charity
- To volunteer with RDA, you wouldn’t be expected to help out every weekend only when you can. It can be a great way to relax and escape Uni work for a couple of hours
We look forward to meeting you!

A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students’ Union.
It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
