"According to most studies, people's number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy."
- Jerry Seinfeld
The Public Speaking Society is all about building up the skills in becoming a great communicator to a lot of people! Public Speaking skills are incredibly transferrable - communication is often one of the most important traits looked for by employers, and outside of the workplace will make you a more engaging person to be around!
Meeting once a week, each session contains teaching on important skills in Public Speaking that you may not have considered, before you get a little bit of time to prepare your own speech and deliver it to an audience! You recieve feedback on your speeches and learn to power through the nerves with time and practise. There are countless success stories of people without the most confidence on the stage completely turning around after enough time!
In addition, we are planning on running two internal competitions as well as attending the Inter-University Public Speaking Competition this year. We also offer the ESB Level 4 Award In Professional Presentation Skills qualification in semester 2, something that looks great on any CV.
We meet up in Mooch after every session. Hope to see you there!
Price: £4 per year
Time: 6:30-8pm Mondays, location to be confirmed (Covid)

Committee
All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.
A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students’ Union.
It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
