About Belly Dance Society
Welcome to the University of Nottingham Belly Dance Society!
Come and experience a piece of the middle east at our Belly dance taster session! Learn new skills while getting a great body workout! Both beginners and experienced dancers are welcome. Basic moves will be taught with a dance to finish off the session. You will also see a performance from our existent members and our amazing costumes.
Belly dancing is something that ANYONE can do. It truly caters to everyone, no matter your dance experience, shape or size.
As a form of exercise, it is really effective in toning the body. You'll definitely notice this in your first lesson, and after a few sessions, you'll see the difference. Belly dancing promotes femininity, balance, posture, strength, coordination and confidence as well as being a fun highly expressive art form.
Due to COVID-19, some of our sessions will be taking place online via Zoom this year. Check out our Facebook page for more information on when classes will be and how to access them!
Membership price: £15
This one-time payment of £15 gives you access to all online beginners and advanced classes.
When you become a member it means that classes are at a reduced price! You can show off what you have learnt and perform alongside the committee at special events and festivals! Not only is the society for learning how to dance, but it provides the opportunity to meet many different people from all different backgrounds. There are many socials throughout the year organised by the committee so you have a great time outside of classes too!

All of our clubs and societies are run by a committee.
A committee is a team of people that lead, organise and publicise a group within your Students’ Union.
It can be really rewarding as well as being a great way to gain experience and invaluable skills for your future career.
